§ 3-504 Tuition – Waiver of Nonresident Portion
- The nonresident portion of tuition is waived for:
- academic and staff employees on appointment for at least 25 percent of full-time service with the university and with certain specifically identified related agencies, provided the appointment requires service for not less than three-fourths of the term.
- persons actively serving in one of the Armed Forces of the United States who are stationed and present in the state of Illinois in connection with that service and their spouses and dependent children, as long as the military person remains stationed, present, and living in Illinois.
- The following students are treated as residents for tuition purposes:
- the teaching and professional staff (such as counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, librarians, and administrators) in the private and public elementary and secondary schools in Illinois who hold appointment for at least one-fourth time for not less than three-fourths of the term.
- the spouses and dependent children of academic and staff employees and graduate assistants on appointment with the university and certain specifically identified related agencies for at least 25 percent of full-time service, and of those identified in subsection (b)(4) below. (Dependent children are those who qualify as dependents for federal income tax purposes.)
- the spouses and dependent children of fellows and trainees who are appointed as teaching assistants to the fullest extent permitted by their fellowship appointment.
- the faculties of state-supported institutions of higher education in Illinois holding appointments of at least one-fourth time, provided the appointment requires service for not less than three-fourths of the term.
